History of Aegean Airlines

Aegean Airlines was the first private airline to operate in Greece. The first flights operated from Athens to Heraklion and Thessaloniki. The next destinations were Rhodes and Chania. Adding destinations one by one, this small Greek airline has grown to service around 25 cities. The company bought Air Greece and with the acquisition of seven more aircraft, the fleet grew as well as the number of services flights per day.

In 2001, Aegean joined forces with Cronus Airlines which led them to include in their route network seven international destinations. This same year the business class was added to Aegean aircraft, creating a more elite and selective flying class. Today Aegean has signed several code-share agreements, notably with Brussels Airlines and bmi, a subsidiary of Lufthansa. The company has also received an ISO 14001 certification for environmental protection.

  • Meals: During the flight small snacks, sandwiches, meals, coffee and drinks are served, depending on the destination.
