Coventry, located in West Midlands, is the place to be for an all-British holiday. It's an industrial hub, a cathedral city as well as a culture hot-spot for this corner of England. Known locally as the Three Spired Jewel, Coventry may not be the most attractive city in the UK (as it was mostly destroyed in WWII) but it has enough to share. The best way to see the West Midlands is by car so start browsing Coventry car hires as soon as you start planning your Coventry holiday. Since Coventry's airport has no scheduled flights, the closest airport is actually Birmingham, the best place to pick up a car hire to reach Coventry, which is actually closer to the airport than Birmingham. From the airport, choose your Coventry low cost car rental from Avis, Budget, Enterprise Rent-a-Car, Europcar, National and Hertz.
It's also possible to rent a car in Coventry instead of Birmingham. Most Coventry car hire companies are located within the Ringway. Hertz is on Lamb Street while Avis, Budget, Avis and Cars for Business are located in and around Tower Street. There is another Hertz Branch at the Belgrade Theatre.
It's very easy to park in Coventry although you won't really need to move your Coventry rental car much in the city since everything is quite close together. All the car parks in Coventry are managed by the city council. You will find a number of car parks identified by giant square green signs with white Ps inside. Belgrade Plaza, Tower Street, Orchards Shopping Centre, Coventry Retail Market, Bull Yard… there are many more! It costs £1/hour to park in these lots, usually with a reduced rate for early morning and evening hours.
Birmingham, a thirty minute drive away with a discount car hire from Coventry has a ton of choice for visitors. If you've got shopping on the mind, hit up the famous Bull Ring, one of the biggest shopping malls in the country. Apart from that there is a wealth of art galleries, cultural museums and excellent dining options in the city centre. For the sweet tooth among you, Cadbury World will definitely satisfy your chocolatey cravings.
Kenilworth is a historical town that is worth exploring, even if for just half a day. For one thing, it's got a stunning castle, the namesake to the town which is open all year round. It's an English Heritage sight and costs £12 per family to enter, free for English Heritage Members. If you don't want to pay the entrance, it's almost just as satisfying to walk around it and circle the remaining castle walls.
Keep going with your Coventry car hire past Kenilworth and you'll enter Warwickshire, where you can visit Stratford-upon-Avon as well as Warwick. Warwick in particular is known for its medieval castle. Stratford-upon-Avon is so pretty and quaint, the postcard for "British country town." It is the hometown of William Shakespeare so why not see a masterpiece by the playwright while you're here?
