Where to rent a car in Boston

There are many car hire companies in Boston and also plenty of car hire deals as well. Logan Airport, located in the eastern part of Boston has the largest selection and the cheapest prices when it comes to rentals. This is where you'll be landing when you debark from your flights to Boston.

Parking in Boston: what you should know

There are several different options for parking your discount car hire in Boston. First of all, if you're only doing the tourist thing in the city, then leave your rental car outside at a Park & Ride lot and take the "T" into the city. Also, parking at car parks outside of commuter rail stations is much cheaper ($5.75/day) than paying for parking in the city centre, especially overnight. If you do need to park in a city car park or on the street in the city centre, don't be surprised to see some lots charging as much as $40/day on a weekday. If you're willing to walk and park further outside the city centre then you can find parking as cheap as $20/day and even further out for $7/day. Most free street parking is limited to residents only. All street parking with Pay & Display meters have a limit of 2 hours.

Road trips from Boston: what to do, what to see

Like many cities in the US, there are toll roads going in and out of the city. Make sure you keep spare change with you for these, ranging from $1.25 to $3.85. Making trips out of the city is a great way to make your holidays in Boston more complete, New England is at your doorstep!

• A stone's throw away: Cape Cod is about 75 miles away and is a beautiful spot to check out, especially in the summer! You can either take a ferry or make the drive along the cost, both are great options! You could easily make a whole holiday out of this region of Massachusetts visiting Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket while you're at it.
• A little further: Another nice trip out of Boston is south to Providence in Rhode Island. It's a very artsy city with plenty of culture to go around. In the autumn is boasts some impressive fall foliage and the downtown area has some charming architecture.
• A proper day-trip: If you've got a few spare days take the "Boston to the Bronx" road trip! It's a bit of a hike but you can reach the iconic NYC neighbourhood in about 3.5 hours along the US-20 or I-95. It's a bit more than a day trip so stay the weekend! There is a ton to do in that corner of the Big Apple. Alternatively instead of booking tickets from London to Boston, fly into New York and use a one way car hire to Boston.
