Dalaman is the gateway to the south-western coast of Turkey. Dalaman itself is located inland and is used mostly by holiday makers who are heading to the coast. Road trips from Dalaman: what to do, what to see

• A stone's throw away: Göcek is a yachting city on the tip of the gulf. It's a mere 15km from Dalaman and enjoys an impressive 300 days of sunshine a year. The city itself is very easily explored on foot but the main attraction isn't' the town, it's the small coves and little islands in the sea. The rugged coastline is a mix of tall pine forests and mountains, very pretty when seen from the deck of a boat out at sea.
• A little further: If you want to get away from Dalaman, head to the coast! Pamphylia is towards the east and is very similar to the Lycian coast. It's quite touristy though, which can get old really fast. It's about 70 km further down the coast and makes a great side trip to a holiday in Dalaman and for those travellers looking to explore more of the coastline.
• A proper day-trip: Marmaris is a little further from Dalaman in the opposite direction as Pamplylia. It takes about 1 hour and a half to reach it by land, a lot shorter by boat. The city however is very busy, with visitors from all over the world in the summer. The bars and coffee shops and restaurants all have a lively atmosphere well into the evening. During the day take a cruise along the coast!
