• A stone's throw away: In the heart of Tuscany you can't NOT visit the beautiful Fiesole, one of the most scenic villages in the countryside. After many excavations, it has come to light that this village dates back to Etruscan times. Take a walk, a hike and visit the Chapel of St. James and the Roman Theatre.
• A little further: Halfway between Florence and Siena is Chianti, an area known for its beauty. It's a tourist hotspot although this doesn't at all water down the Italian authenticity. Visit the Carthusian monastery, it's really wonderful.
• A proper day-trip: The Florentine Mountains, although not altogether mountains… more like hills rolling softly towards the Sieve and Comano. Adventure awaits!
