Where to rent a car in Orlando

With Walt Disney World and Universal Studios just outside of Orlando, it's no wonder so many travellers opt for renting a car during their holiday in Florida! There are so many great attractions within easy reach, fun for kids (both young and old!). It's essential to get a cheap car hire in Orlando since all of the region's attractions are spread out and poorly connected with public transportation. Whether you arrive at Orlando Sanford International Airport or Orlando International Airport, the airport is the best place to pick up your rental.

Apart from the airport you can find a rent car company along the city's main streets. Rent a Wreck is just off 408 and S Orange Blossom Trail while National Car Rental can be found on E South Street. There is a Hertz next to the Orlando train station. Enterprise is on E Colonial Drive. Some major hotels in Orlando may also have rental car facilities right on their premises!

Parking in Orlando: what you should know

Keep in mind that you will need to pay for parking at all of Orlando's theme parks. At Universal Studios, for example, it costs $15/day per vehicle. If you park just for the evening, between 6:00pm and 10:00pm, it's only $3. An all-day parking pass at Walk Disney World costs $12 per vehicle.

In Orlando itself you will find ample parking either in car parks or on the street, especially in and around the Amway Center. It costs on average between $12 and $15/day to park in a municipal car park and around $1/hour on the street. Remember however that street parking has a maximum during the day, usually just 1 hour.

A stone's throw away: What's a trip to Florida without visiting some of the beaches in and around Orlando? St. Petersburg Beach and Clearwater Beach are near Tampa while Daytona is on the other side of the "finger," about 1 hour drive away. Don't forget to pack the sunscreen!
A little further: It takes a mere 90 minutes to reach Tampa Bay, a chance you cannot miss! The area's biggest attraction is there, Busch Gardens which not only has a wide variety of animals but plenty of rides, roller coasters and other thrills. Other attractions include the University of Florida Botanical Gardens, Lowry Park Zoo and the Florida Aquarium.
