Aberdeen Art Gallery: If you want to learn about Scottish and English art in the modern work, then this gallery should be at the top of your list. It's the largest art gallery in the north of Scotland, with a mix of everything from 18th century portraiture to 20th century classics from the likes of Francis Bacon adn Stanley Spencer.

Aberdeen Beach: Golden sand stretching almost 2 miles, can you imagine? This beach is a hot spot during the summer. The northern part is more secluded and less touristy, even good for bird-watching.

Marischal Museum: The Marischal Museum was founded in 1786 and is free to enter. The pieces in the museum's collection were donated by graduates of the university over literally centuries. One half of the museum is dedicated to Scotland and its legends and traditions while the other half if purely anthropological, with artefacts from all over the world.

Union Street: This is the main drag for shopping in Aberdeen, running between Holburn Junction and Castlegate. An interesting tidbit, when the English conquered the castle, which once stood on the eastern side, in the name of Robert the Bruce the townspeople had to use a password to enter, Bon Accord which remains today the city's motto.

Provost Skene's House: This is the oldest house in the entire city, quite a feat. It's an excellent example of 16th century medieval architecture that used to be the norm in Aberdeen. It belonged once to the mayor of Aberdeen and became an official museum in the 1950s.
