Essentials in Alicante

The Costa Blanca is where it all happens in the summer. Alicante itself is a beautiful and emerging city, with a vibrant night-life and great restaurants. The real attraction for taking holidays in Alicante are the beaches.

Bonfires of Saint John: This huge festival attracts thousands every year from all over Europe. It takes place during the summer solstice and is well worth witnessing. Huge paper effigies are burned on the beaches, followed by a night of parties, music, drinking and mayhem.

MUBAG: If you fit one museum into your itinerary, make sure it's this one. It showcases the best in modern art as well as some gems from the 16th and 17th centuries by artists from the Valencia region. It's housed in one of the city's most remarkable 18th century mansions.

Beaches: There are at least 5 beaches within the city limits, the most popular being Playa de Postiguet. If you want to skip the tourist crowds, head to El Saladar beach which is closer to the airport.

Balearic Islands: Ibiza is just a short ferry ride away from Alicante. The trip takes around 3 hours and operates daily. Island life, night clubs and rugged hiking await!
