Accommodations in Singapore

Today Singapore hosts more conventions and international delegate meetings than any other city. Obviously their hotel scene reflects that. Luxury is easy to find and surprisingly you can still find personalised service at many of the smaller hotels too. Prices however, aren't exactly for the budget travellers. They're right up there with London and New York. Steer clear when a convention is in town, also between June and September and December when rooms are hard to come by and prices are drastically inflated.

For budget and low-cost hotels in Singapore, look in the Geylang area which is still central, just east of City Hall. Backpackers just looking for a bed in a dorm, Bencoolen Street is the best place. Booking ahead at any time of the year is strongly recommended.
