London’s mayor, Boris Johnson is calling for more flights from London to India so that the capital can be an “open and welcoming city for Indians.” He went on to say that the city needs a 4-runway hub airport like the ones in India and that the city has a lot of catching up to do.
Scientists at East Anglia and Reading universities are analysing the atmospheric jet stream over the North Atlantic and have concluded that flights between London and New York City will get bumpier as climate change increases chances of hitting strong turbulence. Turbulence is forecasted to rise 40-170% by 2050.
London’s Gatwick Airport served more than 2.5 million passengers last month in March, a rise by 2.5% compared to March last year. Actually it’s the busiest March at Gatwick in five years! The cold weather has definitely helped, prompting many Britons to book last minute trips during the Easter holidays to sunnier climes.
