Thomson Airways and FirstChoice are upping their services from London’s Southend Airport starting next summer. New flights to Palma de Majorca will operate twice a week plus add a service to Ibiza in 2014. Demand is certainly there for holiday flights to Spain’s most popular destinations and will arrive in time for the new terminal expansion.
Heathrow’s brand new Terminal 2 is just one year away from being completed. The new terminal will open its doors to passengers on June 4th, 2014 and will welcome its first flight at 05:55, a United Airlines flight from Chicago. Eventually Terminal 2 will serve 20+ million passengers a year and be a base for Aer Lingus, Virgin Atlantic Little Red as well as germanwings.
London’s mayor, Boris Johnson is calling for more flights from London to India so that the capital can be an “open and welcoming city for Indians.” He went on to say that the city needs a 4-runway hub airport like the ones in India and that the city has a lot of catching up to do.
