A tourist from San Francisco and his sister was on a fishing trip when their boat sank, forcing them to swim for 14 hours in order to reach St. Lucia’s shore. The boat suffered an electrical problem and began to take on water and sink around 12 miles off the coast. The pair swam all night and arrived to the coast severely dehydrated.

Are you thinking about a holiday in St Lucia? It's a lush idea. This Caribbean island is a paradise. Search for flights to George FL Charles Airport (SLU) or Hewanorra International Airport (UVF) near Vieux Fort. The latter is the most popular although its further from the beach resorts.

Gros Piton: Climbing across the Gros Piton is a highlight for many active visitors to the island. The trail takes 2 hours of quite strenuous hiking to complete, plus another 1.5 hours to descent. Take a guide and lots of water.
