History of BMI Baby
The airline was established in January of 2002 and began operations in March with a flight from East Midlands to Malaga. With expansion and passenger numbers, BMI Baby was able to open three other bases, Birmingham, Manchester, and Cardiff. In 2007 the airline introduced a new and interesting program with “pay for what you use” approach. Passengers are given the option of services like ticket flexibility, lounge access, on-line check in, etc. and they are billed only for those that they use. The company began cutbacks in 2007 by closing 5 routes. Further cuts were announced in 2009 for a fleet reduction of 17 to 12.
