Fancy a spot of tea the next time you’re crossing the Atlantic? Looks like Virgin Atlantic is picking up on the latest tea trend by offering passengers High Tea at 35,000 feet. Will that be breakfast tea or green?
Virgin Atlantic is the first airline to board the High Tea train and offer its Upper Class passengers Afternoon Tea on trans-Atlantic flights. Cucumber sandwiches (without the crusts), freshly baked scones with delicious clotted cream and English jams and sweet frosted cakes are just some of the goodies served on individual, ‘flight-safe’, cake stands. A classic British tradition, brought to the skies!
The airline introduced this new catering option following a flood of requests from foreign visitors asking for Afternoon Tea onboard their flights. No doubt the popularity of ITV show Downton Abbey and other period dramas has something to do with it!
Virgin Atlantic’s Afternoon Tea is available on select daytime flights from London. The tea trolley serves a very British selection of small sandwiches, scones and cakes on a personal mini cake-stand for each passenger in Upper Class. Passengers can also choose from a selection of British teas or fresh cafetiere coffee. Sounds good, doesn’t it?
