Car hires in Amman: practical information
Where to rent a car in Amman
Heading out on a trip to Jordan? Amman is the ideal place to base yourself. Once you book your flights to Amman, taking a look at rental car offers is a great next step if you want to explore all the cultural treasures that Jordan has to offer. Amman’s airport is home to a number of car hire companies but you’ll find the most in the city centre.
There are around 50 rental car companies located at Adbullah Gardens, the perfect place to shop around and compare offers. Watch out though, charges and conditions vary considerably and advertised prices often don’t include the 16% tax. Try Avis, Budget, Eagle Rent-A-Car, Europcar or Hertz.
Driving in Amman: parking and other tips
Driving in Amman’s city centre is a bit inconvenient when there is a lot of traffic and generally parking can be difficult. It’s ideal to book a hotel in Amman that has a car park available for guests to use. Street parking, when available, typically costs 250 fils per hour.
It’s a good idea to hire a car from a company with several branches in the country. That way, you have a better chance of receiving roadside assistance faster or getting a replacement vehicle easier. Extra liability insurance comes highly recommended!
