Essentials in Cebu
Cebu City: Right on Cebu Island, this is the capital of the region and a treat to visit. The old catholic basilica is a must to see the statue of baby Jesus that was given as a gift from Portuguese explorer Magellan in 1521.
Bantayan Island: For white sandy beaches and pretty much heaven on earth, Bantayan is your place. This is also the best island to experience Holy Week, where the festivities last day and night.
Malapascua Island: For scuba diving and the chance to watch thrasher sharks in the wild, head to this island. The beaches are less crowded than on Bantayan Island and you'll find plenty of expats speaking English.
