Air Transat is a Canadian airline that operates both charter flights and scheduled ones from Montreal in Quebec. Air Transat offers flight routes on a seasonal basis. History of Air Transat

Air Transat evolved out of Quebecair in 1986. The airline’s first flight took off in November of 1987 between Montreal and Acapulco in Mexico. It is owned and operated by Transat A.T., one of the world’s largest travel tour operators. It specializes in tourism between Quebec and France. In the 1990s Air Transat became a popular contender for flights between Europe and Canada, particularly in the UK and France. Transat A.T. works with Look Voyages, Tourgreece and Canadian Affair to offer travellers the lowest priced airfare for travel from France, Greece, and England to Canada. There are now 60 routes between Europe and Canada. There are now offices in some of the destination cities around the world like Mexico, Florida and the Dominican Republic.

• Onboard Services

  • Meals: Air Transat serves coffee, tea, water, juice and soft drinks free of charge on all flights. There are snacks and other amenities available to purchase. For flights heading south from Canada there is a hot meal served plus a dessert and a glass of wine. For flights to and from Europe there is 1 meal served as well as breakfast and a snack.
  • Entertainment: There is a selection of audio and video entertainment possibilities. There are newly-released movies on flights longer than 2 and a half hours.

• Baggage Allowances

  • Cabin: 1 piece is allowed per passenger. On flights to the USA, Barbados, Grenada, Kingston Jamaica, Port-of-Spain Trinidad and the UK the carry-on luggage must not exceed 5 kg in weight. For flights to all other destinations, 10 kg is permitted. Dimensions: 23 x 40 x 51 cm.
  • Checked: Passengers flying to the USA are allowed 20 kg. Passengers flying to Belgium, France, Germany, Spain, Austria, Switzerland and the Netherlands are allowed 23 kg. Passengers flying to the UK and Ireland are allowed 20 kg. Passengers flying to Italy and Greece are allowed 30 kg. Passengers flying to Grenada are allowed 40 kg while passengers flying to Jamaica are allowed 45 kg. To Port-of-Spain in Trinidad, 41 kg is permitted and to Haiti and Portugal 50 kg is permitted.
  • Excess: There is an excess baggage fee of $12 CA per kg each way for most destinations. On flights between Canada and Europe the fee is $15 CA per kilo. Air Transat does not accept luggage that weighs more than 32 kg.
