Start by booking your flights to Cagliari Airport (CAG) and then pick up a rent car from the airport. Choose from AutoEuropa, Dollar Thrifty, Matta Autonoleggio, Avis, Europcar, Pinna Autonoleggio, Hertz, among others.
You can also hire a car from Cagliari’s city centre but most specifically from the ferry port. You’ll find both international companies and local ones represented there.
Driving in Cagliari: parking and other tips
Driving in Cagliari is easy and parking is affordable. Parking in blue zones costs €0.60 for the first hour and €1.10 for each hour after that. Parking tickets can be purchased either from nearby attendants or from newspaper stands and should be displayed clearly on your car dashboard.
For parking overnight, it’s best to book a hotel with parking available to guests.

Nuraghe Su Nuraxi
Located in the lush green countryside near Barumini is Nuraghe Su Nuraxi, Sardinia’s only World Heritage Site. The focal point of the site is the 1500 BC tower, which originally stood on its own but was later incorporated into a fortress. It’s a fab day trip from Cagliari.
