Driving in Cagliari is easy and parking is affordable. Parking in blue zones costs €0.60 for the first hour and €1.10 for each hour after that. Parking tickets can be purchased either from nearby attendants or from newspaper stands and should be displayed clearly on your car dashboard.
For parking overnight, it’s best to book a hotel with parking available to guests.
Road trips from Cagliari: what to do, what to see
Of course you’ll want to visit the beautiful beaches of Sardinia while you’re visiting on your holidays. Poetto Beach is a stunner, 8km long and is a great spot that’s not too far from Cagliari.
Alghero is known all over Sardinia for its beautiful beaches and fabulous food at reasonable prices. The city has Catalan roots so it’s no wonder it’s known as “Little Barcelona.” Don’t miss Neptune’s Grotto in Cappo Caccia.
Nuraghe Su Nuraxi
Located in the lush green countryside near Barumini is Nuraghe Su Nuraxi, Sardinia’s only World Heritage Site. The focal point of the site is the 1500 BC tower, which originally stood on its own but was later incorporated into a fortress. It’s a fab day trip from Cagliari.
