Driving in Krakow: parking and other tips
A lot of the Krakow city centre is car-free, mostly due the lack of available parking. If you’re simply touring the city, you’ll find a Krakow rental car more of a hindrance than a help. In the city centre, there are two car parks: Plac Szczepański and Plac Św Ducha. Parking in the streets typically costs 3zł per hour, to be paid Monday to Fridays from 10am to 6pm.

Auschwitz-Birkenau
The former German Nazi camp is locate just 65km from Krakow and is a popular day trip with a Krakow rent car. Auschwitz and Birkenau are just a few kilometres apart. Entry into the camps is free of charge. An English-language tour is definitely worth the £8.
Wieliczka
Just 17km from Krakow, this town is famous for its ancient salt mines. The mines and museum are UNESCO World Heritage Sites and are a must when visiting the region. Entry to the mines is 73zł.
Zakopane
Travelling 100km to the south of Krakow will bring you to the gorgeous Tatra Mountains and to Poland’s winter sport capital. In the wintertime, this is the perfect place to enjoy a ski holiday in Poland or in summer to enjoy some hiking.
