It’s a good idea to plan your holiday in Botswana around the climate. Rainy season typical takes place from December to March. Botswana is the best country to visit if its African game you’re after. Safaris in any of the country’s many game reserves and parks will suit. The Kalahari Desert is its own adventure and don’t miss the chance to meet some of the country’s bushmen.
Wildlife safaris: Nearly 1/5 of Botswana is parkland and wildlife reserves. You’ll see everything from lions, cheetahs, hippos, elephants, antelope and more. Okavango Delta, Chobe National Park and Makgadikgadi Pans National Park are all good choices.
Botswana tribes: These days Botswana’s traditional native tribes only dress in traditional clothing to perform dances for tourists. If you do want to visit a tribe, D’Kar and Xai-Xai villages offer plenty from dances to crafts and arts.
Kalahari Desert: The Kalahari Desert covers a huge area and the terrain varies from thick bush to salt-pans. Base yourself in Ghanzi, a bushman town, for day trips into the desert and to the nature reserve.
