The Republic of the Congo promises a trip you’ll never forget, from Brazzaville to the remote jungles of the north. Start planning your holiday in the Congo with cheap flights to Brazzaville’s Maya-Maya Airport (BZV) onboard Air France, Ethiopian Airlines, Kenya Airways and Royal Air Maroc.
When to book a holiday in the Congo really depends where you wan to visit. The best time to visit Brazzaville in the south is from May to September while the north is better visited between December and February. Book your flights at least 6 months in advance.
Flights to the Congo take at least 12 hours with stopovers from London.
Almost the entire country of the Republic of the Congo is covered in dense rain forest which is home to the country’s famous gorillas. The only inhabited part of the country is the south, from Brazzaville to Pointe Noire.
Brazzaville: This city is a great place to stopover if you’re headed for the Congolese rain forests. It took a major hit when the civil war hit in 1997 but is now, steadily, getting back on its feet.
Lefini Reserve: If it’s a safari you’re after, this is the country’s most popular reserve. It’s located in the north, bordering Lesio-Louna.
Odzala National Park: This is the country’s most popular park in the Cuvette-Ouest region and founded in 1935. Forest elephants and gorillas are the big attractions as well as giant forest hogs and forest buffalo.
Hotels are more expensive in the Congo than you’d expect, particularly if you’re looking for rooms that meet Western standards. Brazzaville and Pointe Noire have the most variety for hotels in the Congo.
