Haiti occupies only a third of the island of Hispaniola. The other two-thirds are part of the Dominican Republic. While Haiti remains the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere, with an open mind there is so much to discover.
Cape-Haïtien: Located in the north of the country is one of the country’s most important cities and is home to some of the most amazing beaches on the island. This is a hot spot for foreign tourists.
Jacmel: If the country could choose a cultural capital, it would be Jacmel in the south. This relaxed town has a beautiful historic centre and is a hub for the country’s arts and culture scene, particularly since the earthquake.
Tortuga Island: This island is just north of Haiti and was named by Christopher Columbus, who discovered it in the 1400s. Its history is riddled with pirates so no wonder it was featured in the recent Pirates of the Caribbean.
