Old Town: Kalamata's original old town was destroyed by the Turks during the War of Independence but was painstakingly rebuilt by French engineers in the 1830s. While walking around the Old Town, don't miss the Saint Apostles church build in 1317 and the Municipal Library. Inside are some amazing works of art donated after the 1986 earthquake.
Kalamata Castle: Located high up on the top of the hill is the city castle, built in 1208 and inspired by a story about a princess who once lived in the region. From the castle you can enjoy the most glorious view of the sea and city down below.
Marina: Kalamata is right on the seaside and during the summer this part of the city is bustling with yachts, visitors and sailboats. The port was once the city's commercial centre but nowadays it's more known for its nightlife and restaurants.
