Senegal is one West African country with plenty to offer. Are you planning a holiday in Senegal? If so, start your trip with cheap flights to Senegal’s main airport in Dakar (DKR). Brussels Airlines flies from London Heathrow, as does Air Europa, TAP Air Portugal and British Airways.
Senegal is a hot and dry country with rainy season starting in May and lasting all the way until November. The best time of the year to visit is during the dry months, December to April. Book your flights to Senegal at least 4-5 months in advance for the best ticket prices.
Flights to Senegal take at least 9 hours with stopovers from London.
Senegal is a gorgeous country with arid deserts to the north and tropical rain forests to the south. Along the coast you’ll find beautiful gold sand beaches, perfect on a sunny holiday. Dakar’s nightlife will keep you up all night long, in a good way.
Dakar: The capital of Senegal can put your senses over the edge. The city is elegant and buzzing all at the same time. Busy street markets, vibrant neighbourhoods and dance clubs that never seem to close are just the tip of the Dakar iceberg.
Ile de Goree: After Dakar, you’ll probably need a change of pace. This island is the perfect spot. This UNESCO site was ruled by the Portuguese, Dutch, English and French and today it’s a beautiful collection of colonial brick homes and narrow alleyways.
Casamance: For a tropical adventure, head to the mouth of the Casamance River and travel by canoe inland to see the lush landscapes of the region. It’s a world away from Dakar, just watch out for bandits!
You’ll find it all in Senegal when it comes to hotels, from backpacker hostels to luxury 5* resorts along the waterfront in Dakar. The capital has the most choice of hotels in Senegal but prices tend to spike up in peak season. Book in advance to avoid disappointment.
