Skiathos is the gateway to Greece's Sporades Islands so whether your final destination is this island or not, you'll need to search for cheap flights to Skiathos for any Sporades holiday. Olympic Airlines, Austrian Airlines, Thomson Airways and others offer charter and regular flights to Skiathos International Airport (JSI).
Skiathos is exclusively a summer destination. Very few airlines offer flights to Skiathos during the winter season. That being said, when travelling for a holiday in Skiathos in summer, it pays to book your trip and accommodation early for a deal.
Direct flights to Skiathos take 3 hours 25 minutes from London.
Welcome to Skiathos, the gateway to Greece's gorgeous Sporades Islands. While many just use this island as a jumping off point to other islands, it's worth spending a day or two to discover the treasures that can be found here.
Beaches: The biggest attraction in Skiathos is the selection of beaches. Koukounaries is the most famous beach. For young people, head to Big Banana, for naturists head to Small Banana, for more secluded head to Asselinos and for water sports head to Kanapitsa.
Kastro: For ancient history, this is your place. It's the site of the island's medieval centre which was abandoned in the 19th century.
Alexandros Papadiamantis House: There are few museums in Skiathos so if you want to see one, make it this one. The famous Greek author wrote more than 100 novels about island life and his former house is now a museum.
