Czech Airlines cuts routes to UK

Czech Airlines, the national airline carrier of the Czech Republic, released its winter schedule recently and the UK wasn’t on it. In attempt to save money the airline has decided to cut routes to London Heathrow and Manchester starting October 31st.

The airline is re-shaping its philosophy as well. Instead of serving many European destinations spread out, it will rather concentrate on serving only a select few destinations between East and Western Europe in hopes of saving money. Just from selling their landing slots at Heathrow Airport the airline will be able to recover millions of pounds. Other cites that will also be cut from the airline’s network in October include Munich, Brno and Cologne/Bonn.

Czech Airlines will also reduce the frequency of some routes from Prague to Bratislava, Stuttgart, Copenhagen and Hamburg, among others this fall. Other destinations like Vienna, Marseille and Thessaloniki will only be operated during the summer as holiday destinations.

Their network news isn’t all about cuts though, there will be an increase in service to Belgrade, Paris Charles de Gaulle, Athens, Beirut and St. Petersburg.
