Eurochocolate in Perugia: calling all chocoholics

For the uninitiated, Eurochocolate is a festival dedicated to artisan chocolate, held in Perugia annually since 1994. Like every year in October (from the 14-23rd), Europe’s finest chocolatiers will showcase the festival with their finest creations… and samples!

This festival is for you! Over time Eurochocolate has become a major event for chocolatiers, not just Italian ones either. The chocolate festival takes place every October just when the summer temperatures begin to drop and chocolate consumption is on the rise.

Apart from chocolatiers, the festival attracts chocoholics from all over Europe, including “professional tasters” representing each country. We’re pretty sure anyone who can’t pass a day without it is considered professional… While the main festival takes place in Perugia, other chocolate events also take place at the same time in Rimini, Turin, Rome, Pisa, Naples, Florence and other satellite cities.

Tasters at the ready

If you want to get a mouthful of this year’s samplings then you need to get your paws on the Chococard, the official pass for samples at the Eurochocolate Festival. What else can you expect at Eurochocolate? Art, made of chocolate. In the city centre, master chocolatiers will built chocolate sculptures which you can see by showing your Chococard as you enter to the exhibition space. The card costs €6 and can be bought online at chocostore.it.

The festival is without a doubt the best excuse this fall to take off on a delicious city break. Just make sure you leave room for exploring Perugia’s historic city centre as well!
