1976 marked the international breakthrough of the punk movement thanks to Sex Pistols’ single Anarchy. 2016 celebrates the English metropolis during the London punk festival which includes 40 years of rebel songs and colorful hair. The year-long program in London will include gigs, talks, films, exhibitions and museum displays.

Punk London

Just like the crazy and individual hairstyles, the festival program is equally diverse. The 40 year anniversary of the subversive movement is not only celebrated in underground gigs but also with lectures, exhibitions and screening iconic and important films that helped establish the movement. The Lottery Heritage Fund has contributed £99,000 for the events, as well as British Fashion Council, the British Film Institute, the British Library and the Museum of London.punk-graffiti Punk London kicks off with the Resolution Festival (4-14 January 2016) at The 100 Club, the same venue that hosted the legendary two-day 100 Club Punk. If you have a flight to London booked, please see the legendary concert halls of KOKO, The Roundhouse and The Hope & Anchor pub, it may no longer have the former punk feelings of the 70s, but still an exciting and varied line up nonetheless.punk-graffiti Camden is of course a great place to hear exciting alternative music, but when you’re visiting London take a journey to Denmark Street to discovery punk history. This road is where Sex Pistols once lived and recorded their demos. Denmark street still possesses its rock’n’roll image and is home to several interesting pubs and music stores.
