What happens when two airline owners bet on Formula 1 racing? Billionaires in drag, that’s what. That’s just what happened when Virgin boss Sir Richard Branson and AirAsia owner Tony Fernandes bet on whose Formula 1 team would perform best at this years championship. Turns out Lotus Racing, Fernandes’ team, came out on top and Sir Richard is set to dress drag.
When the season first started out the two successful businessmen made a wager with each other. The loser of the bet would have to dress as a flight attendant and work for the other and serve passengers on the winner’s airline.
Now that the season is over, finishing on Sunday night, it’s time to look at the results. In the end both teams finished with zero points but Lotus did overall perform better than Virgin. What does Fernandes have to say about this? ““We have had this great bet running all season and now it’s time for Richard to start preparing himself for some hard work and the likely pain of a pair of high heels!”
At the track celebrations on Sunday Tony Fernandes came ready with an AirAsia stewardess uniform for Branson. From the look on his face when he received his new outfit, it didn’t seem he was too upset about it. Do you think AirAsia could convince him to do a safety demo dance routine too? Or would that be turning the key a little too hard?
Branson is set to serve up tea and coffee on a flight to London from Kuala Lumpur. Tickets for the specific flight will be sold on an online charity auction. No other flight details have been released.
Let’s just hope for Sir Richard’s sake that AirAsia has some pretty fetching uniforms!
