A new app for iPhone promises users that it can calculate the probability of their flight ending badly…
With many passengers booking flights despite their fears, a British company developed an app called “Am I going down?” For just $1, you can learn whether or not your flight is likely to go down, or not. Available now for iPhone and soon also for Android.
The app compiles all available aircraft accident data: airline, model, time and place of crash… and then calculates the probability based on these figures. It then sends you a “risk assessment” much in the same way an insurance company does.
Those who buy the app can know that they have a risk of crashing of one in 4,068,434 against a risk of one in 4,223,629 compared to another flight (this is a far-fetched example). We’re not sure how helpful this really is in the end though…
