As the the year slowly comes to an end, we can’t help but start thinking about 2014 and what trips we are dying to take next year, which cities we will finally visit and how we plan to make the most of our days off in the New Year.
New Year’s Resolutions. It’s that time of the year when we open our diaries for 2014 for the first time, cracking its spine. We flick through the fresh pages and start dreaming up where we’d like to go in the coming year.
When can we fit in a weekend in Paris? What about spending our summer holidays in Spain again this year? Whether you’re heading out on an RTW, gap year adventure or are just planning your next family trip, here are some resolutions for the New Year from fellow travellers.
@karenbryan: Merry Christmas, my #travel resolution for next year is to visit #Budapest and #Prague.
@RunawayJuno: Do more outdoor activities 🙂
Rachelle from The Travel Bite plans to overcome her fear of horses in 2014. She writes,
I long to join my fellow travelers in their love for horses, but I need to overcome my fear of riding them first. Most fears are unfounded, you know, ‘false evidence appearing real.’ But I once had a terrifying experience on a trail ride that now makes my heart pound and my hands sweat anytime I’m invited to go for a ride. […] The next time we’re off traveling and have the opportunity to go for a morning ride on the beach or a gorgeous horseback stroll through the mountains, I’d like to do so confidently and actually enjoy the experience.

How to make the most of your travels in 2014
Before you go… Choose a place on the globe and go for it! If you’ve always wanted to visit the Galapagos Islands, Berlin or Iceland, wherever really, plan your trip and go, then cross it off your travel bucket list and start planning your trip to the next destination.
When you’re travelling… Go out of your way to make someone else’s trip better. Airports are the perfect places to practise patience, send a smile someone else’s way, help someone load their bags on their trolleys… A little act of kindness goes a long way.
While abroad… Sightseeing is great but sometimes it’s the people you meet along the way that really make a trip. That guy making your cafe au lait in Paris probably knows some great places to check out off the tourist trail, why not ask?
What resolutions are you making for 2014?
