Figures show that Britons make up a quarter of visitors to India under the recently simplified visa process.
British tourists are proving to be early adopters of the new ‘e-visa’ scheme which aims to simplify travel to India.
The Ministry of Tourism in New Delhi shows figures that reveal Britons make up nearly a quarter of all visitors to India.
Of the 83,501 foreign travelers last month, 24 per cent of them were British with 16 per cent of them American.
The E-Tourist visa scheme was launched in 2014 as a limited trial but was widened to encompass 113 countries in August.
Before potential visitors would need to book an appointment and present relevant documents at visa processing centers – a process which could take up to two weeks.
