There’s no way around it: Brits love to travel. We love this infographic that Thomas Cook whipped up about the history of British holidaymakers. From steam train to luxury cruise liners, the rise of aircraft travel and package holidays.

We always love a good infographic and this one from Thomas Cook highlights some of the key changes in holiday making throughout the last 170 years. Did you know that in the 1870s there were only 4 bank holidays a year? Today we have 8 and it hardly seems enough!

Seaside resort towns like Blackpool only really became popular with the invention of the motorcar. With new cars, wealthy Victorian families could move about as they liked, with the help of a chauffeur, making the seaside easier to reach than ever.

Where have you travelled this year?
