An Aer Lingus flight from Lisbon to Dublin had to redirect and land in Cork, when a 24 year old man from Brazil bit another male passenger sitting near him.
The distressed passenger was said to have been shaking violently and acting bizarre before biting his fellow passenger. The cabin crew tried handcuffing him before he lost consciousness: a doctor and nurse who were on board failed to revive him. He was pronounced dead on arrival by paramedics.
The Brazilian man was travelling with a 44 year old Portuguese woman who has been accused of carrying two kilograms of amphetamine powder.
It hasn’t been announced whether or not the arrest is related to the man’s death.
