It’s the moment that all travellers in India – and those about to fly to the country as well – have been waiting for. The Taj Mahal Palace Hotel is to open its doors once more following a period of renovation, just in time for Independence Day on August 15th.

So, if you haven’t done it already, book those cheap flights to Mumbai and reserve your space in the iconic site, which – as Southall Travel observes – is the
“epitome of the unyielding courage, resilience and determination of the people of India” and, architecturally, is a bit of a melange, featuring Florentine, Moorish and Oriental styles.

Even if you’re after the cheapest hotels in Mumbai, splashing out for one night in this great building, originally constructed back in 1903, surely must be done – you’ll be able to experience a taste of times gone by, all mixed in with numerous modern facilities. There’s even a personalised butler service!
