For those who want something a little more luxurious than camping and a little more unique than Glamping, this could be the answer: welcome to the world of ‘Champing™’.

If you’re looking for an alternative venue to rest your head, and the idea of sleeping in a tent just isn’t cutting it, why not try Champing™? Created by the Churches Conservation Trust, the concept offers a number of churches across the UK to travellers looking for alternative accommodation.

Beds and living spaces are set up in the church, and visitors are then able to enjoy the space for the duration of their booking (hide and seek in a bell tower, anyone?). You won’t have to worry about sharing your space as the Churches involved won’t accept further bookings once yours has been locked in.

This year, there will be 12 churches across England and Orkney involved in the Champing™ scheme. They’re all in the care of the Churches Conservation Trust, and are no longer in active use.

Champing™ is available from 31st March to 30th September.

Would you stay in a Church?
