Finland’s tourism body ThisisFINLAND will release exclusively designed national emojis throughout December.
Designed by Bruno Leo Ribeiro, Finland will release a series of 30 new national emojis in the run up to Christmas. It’s kind of like a social media inspired advent calendar, Finnish inhabitants will receive a new weird emoji each day which represents Finland.
What is great about this project is the tongue in cheek aspect; it gives tourists a great insight into Finland’s personality and shows that the nation embraces its weirdness. The Finnish Ministry say that the icons will be released to promote the country abroad.
They’ve launched three teaser emojis which best sums up the nation, an emoji of naked sauna-goers, heavy metal head bangers and an outdated vintage Nokia 3310.
