When it comes to flying, the more space you can get the better. Abu Dhabi based airline Etihad seems to agree – they’ve introduced a new feature, allowing travelers to bid to keep the seats next to them empty!
When it comes to flying, there’s nothing like the moment you realise there’s nobody else sitting on your row; or you’ve been allocated the fire exit seat (hello, extra leg room!). Etihad Airways, an Abu Dhabi based airline, knows just how important extra space is – and they’ve launched a new feature to help you get it.
The ‘neighbour-free seat’ option allows travelers to bid to keep their neighbouring seats empty. Anyone traveling in economy class will be able to bid for up to 3 adjacent seats, ensuring they stay empty throughout the flight.
The option is subject to availability, and passengers can bid within set guidelines (there’s a maximum and minimum bid amount). A few days before you travel, you’ll get an email to let you know the seats next to you haven’t yet been filled – this is your chance to bid to keep them empty! If your bid is successful, you’ll be notified 30 hours before departure, and in flight you’ll enjoy that extra bit of space in which to spread out, take a nap and pretend you’re in first class.
What do you think of the new initiative?
