It might be hard to imagine in dreary old England, but booking cheap flights to Dubai today could mean you’ll be enjoying the blazing sun – and chilling out in an Arctic paradise – before you know it.

The emirate has just seen the opening of Iceland Water Park, a unique frosty fiesta that draws inspiration from the coldest parts of the world.

Located in Ras Al Khaimah, near Mina Al Arab, travellers of all ages can enjoy the attractions of the giant igloo, whether this means swimming in a waterfall with real fish, relaxing in some of the mock-Swiss chalets, getting an adrenaline rush on Mount Attack – which sees riders plummet 100 m – or splashing about with the kids in Penguin Bay, an outdoor disco.

Time Out Dubai describes it as “a very, very big and slightly bizarre icy playground … cleverly tailored to provide tots, tweens and teens with plenty of whacky water activities”.

It could be perfect for escaping the “scorching heat” that Keneilwe Mampuru described experiencing as she stepped off her first Dubai flights, the Times Live reported.
