Giorgio Armani has opened his first luxury hotel, located in none other than the world’s tallest man-made building in Dubai, the Burj Khalifa. It has taken over 5 years to build and after dozens of delays, the day has arrived.
The hotel, with 160 rooms located on the lower floors of the building, is now ready to welcome guests to their esteemed establishment in the central hot-spot of the United Arab Emirates. There are more things to do in this hotel than just lounge around in a room outfitted in the most luxurious textiles and amenities.
There are 8 restaurants, an exclusive Armani boutique, an Armani Dolci (his candy shop) and an Armani Fiori (flower shop). If this was not enough, guests are welcome to dance their hearts out while sipping expensive cocktails at Armani Privé, a nightclub featuring the world’s largest LCD screen. Table reservations are recommended, for $800 a piece.
From Armani himself, “My ambition for Armani Hotel Dubai – the first of a collection of Armani hotels, resorts and residences that will soon circle the world – is to celebrate comfort and style by providing the highest standards of design, hospitality and service.” (statement from the opening ceremony, April 27th, 2010)
As for hotel room rates, a standard room costs around 4,000 dirhams (approx. £315) a night. There are also suites available for the price of $11,000 a night (USD).
This is not the last we’ll see of Armani’s exclusive openings, Milan is next to be home of Armani’s second hotel expected to open next year. After that Marrakesh, Paris, New York City, Tokyo and Shanghai are also on the horizon.
If you’re travelling to Dubai and you don’t manage a room at this exclusive location, there are many other great hotels in Dubai. What do you think about this next step in luxury hotels? Is it too much or not enough?
