There are millions of days in holidays being given up by British workers, with very few getting any financial compensation for unused annual leave according to a new report by the Post Office.
In a survey of more than 1,000 employees, the Post Office Travel Money found that only half took all the leave they were due in 2013. Only 1 in 10 said that their employer will pay them for any days of their leave they don’t use. 1 in 5 said they were just too busy to take time off, while 1 in 6 admitted that their employer made it difficult for them to take their full entitlement.
Find yourself in this situation? Don’t let those annual leave days go unused! If you’re in a job where it’s difficult to take 1 week off at a time, the best way to make the most of your annual leave is to relish some long weekends every couple of months. Take off a Friday and a Monday and catch a cheap flight to Barcelona for some sand, sun and culture. You won’t regret it!
