The perfect holiday. Sounds amazing, right? But what’s the recipe for holiday success? What’s the formula for that perfect getaway? Monarch Airlines polled thousands of British travellers to find out just that. And here’s what they came up with.
It turns out that what makes a holiday “perfect” is drastically different from person to person (is anyone surprised?). But Monarch Airlines‘ poll did reveal a few key factors that British travellers decided did contribute to an ideal break. Some things were pretty universal, like travelling with a romantic partner is ideal. But other things really had us scratching our heads. Sorry, but “Game of Thrones” really is not our ideal beach read!
Does this describe your perfect holiday?
Perfect trip: 11 days long, in July
Perfect flight: 4.5 hours long (in which case that means Europe, Northern Africa and Turkey)
Perfect weather: 25 degrees and sunny
Perfect hotel: has a pool and all-night bar, is a seven-minute walk from the beach
Perfect beach read: “Game of Thrones”
Perfect airport transfer: 10-mile drive to hotel, via limousine
Perfect arrival drink: beer for men, tea for women
Perfect trip companion: your love interest or partner
Perfect attire: black bikini or blue swim trunks
Perfect trip soundtrack: “Someone Like You” by Adele, “Sun is Shining” by Bob Marley and “Club Tropicana” by Wham!
Perfect trip cost: about £603.52 per person
While not at the hotel pool, Brits agreed that four excursions away from the hotel is just the right amount. For hotel entertainment, the top activities valued by British holidaymakers included aqua aerobics, yoga, salsa dancing and language classes.
What are British travellers really looking for, at the end of the day?
Time with family, good weather and beautiful scenery.
That, we can definitely agree with! What about you, what does your perfect holiday look like? Do you agree or disagree with any of the points made above, which ones? Don’t worry, we won’t judge you if you’re not a Wham! fan… 😉
