Lufthansa pilots are set to strike for a second time in two weeks: the affected dates are Tuesday November 29 and Wednesday 30, according to an announcement made by labour union Vereinigung Cockpit (VC).
After strike action by Lufthansa pilots last week caused disruptions over two days, a new strike is set to take place this week over Tuesday November 29 and Wednesday 30. On Tuesday November 29, continental flights only will be affected. On Wednesday 30, continental and intercontinental flights from Germany will be affected.
The strike is a result of a dispute over pay between VC and Lufthansa and puts a number of flights at risk of cancellation.
The strike will affect only Lufthansa flights – so airlines including Germanwings, Eurowings and Brussels Airlines will not be affected.
The dispute is over pay increases for pilots: VC is campaigning for an average 3.7% pay increase per year, whilst Lufthansa is arguing for an increase of 2.5%.
If you’re in Germany and are planning to travel during the strike period, check the Lufthansa website for flight information and further updates.
