Jordon Cox, 18, discovered that he would save £8 if he travelled to his home in Essex from a business meeting in Sheffield via Berlin.

The young man is a blogger on moneysavingexpert.com and is an expert coupon saver and deal finder. And clearly, he practices what he preaches with the discovery of his latest money saving venture.

Admittedly the cheaper journey took him 12 hours rather than three-and-a-half, and isn’t really environmentally friendly but it was indeed the cheapest way to travel.

The totted up the two flights, bus fares, his train to Derby, train fares in Berlin and lunch which totalled £44.07, while the faster option of the train (plus lunch) would have cost £51.79.
