Hungary’s low cost airline Wizzair will begin charging passengers to check-in at the airport starting on the first of April of 2010.

The airline hopes to encourage passengers to register and check-in online for their flights in order to keep the fares low. Wizzair slipped this information in a recent press release when they announced the launching of online check-in from UK airports. To keep their low cost fares, there will be a €5 charge for passengers checking in at the airport if the passenger registered for this service on-line or €10 if the passenger did not specify that they would check-in at the airport at the time of their ticket booking. To avoid these extra costs, its best to be organized and take the time to check-in online before heading to the airport. You can check-in for your flight on Wizzair’s homepage from 7 days to 3 hours before the departure time.

Currently you can check in online on flights departing from these airports: Brussels Charleroi, Budapest, Eindhoven, Frankfurt Hahn, Gdansk, Glasgow Prestwick, Hamburg Lübeck Katowice, London Luton, Paris Beauvais, Poznan, Prague, Sofia, Turku, Warsaw, Wroclaw and Weeze.

  1. Dear Jackie,
Thanks a lot for reading us and dropping us a line. Probably you will get a kind of priority tag on your online boarding card when printing it. But to be on the safe side we recommend you to phone wizzair customer service, as each low cost airline has its own policy and way of doing things. Thanks again for reading us! Stop by anytime you wish, we will be happy to read your comments.

  2. I always arrange for Priority Boarding when flying Wizz Air otherwise my partner and I might find that we are not sat together as seats are not pre-allocated at check in. However although I would rather get my Boarding Card on line to save standing in a queue I am wondering whether we would have to queue anyway to get the Priority Boarding sticker put on the Boarding Card. Any information on this would be welcome. Thank you
