The world’s tallest roller coaster has opened in Las Vegas, giving tourists the most magnificent views over the city more than 550 feet above the ground. Check out the High Roller in action!

Las Vegas’ newest attraction, the High Roller, is more than 100 feet taller than the London Eye, just to give you some perspective on the situation. It’s just a shade taller than the Singapore Flyer, which held the record for being the tallest ferris wheel until the High Roller was completed.

It has 28 capsules, each of which can hold 40 people at a time. Like the Eye, a full rotation takes 30 minutes.

Each pod is air-conditioned which will certainly come as a relief to summertime riders. But let’s be honest, the nighttime rides will certainly be the more popular! The ferris wheel was a investment for Caesar Entertainment and hopes to attract between 4 and 5 million visitors in the first year alone. This is just another new family-friendly attraction to open in Las Vegas in an attempt to make Las Vegas a cool destination for all ages.

Practical info:

  • Tickets: Daytime tickets cost $24.95 while nighttime tickets cost $34.95. Want to jump the queue? Get ready to dish out $59.95.
  • Location: The High Roller is located across from Caesars Palace, where the former Irish-themed O’Sheas Casino was located.
  • Speed: The ferris wheel travels at a speed of one foot per second, taking roughly 30 minutes to make a full rotation.

Brilliant, isn’t it? Will you be lining up for a ride on the High Roller the next time you book flights to Las Vegas?
