When looking for travel tickets, many of us have two criteria at the front of our minds: cheapest and fastest. This definitely wasn’t the case for one man who voluntarily took seven flights over the course of two days to travel from London to Aberdeen!

Rather than hopping on a single 1.35h flight, James Mutton instead opted to take seven different planes to reach his destination. Setting off from London Gatwick, his journey took him on to Jersey, back to Gatwick, on to Amsterdam, Heathrow, Glasgow and Sumburgh Airport (Shetland Islands), before setting off for his last stop of Aberdeen.

Flying with British Airways meant he was able to top up his Avios points as a result of the journey.

On his blog, misterairmiles, Mutton writes that he has “been collecting miles and points ‘full time’ since 2012” and is a self confessed ‘points junkie’.

In total, Mutton flew a total of 14 flights across 4 travel days to earn around 13,000 Avios points – and take one step closer towards Gold status, which will allow further benefits on future flights and point collection! He writes that “clearly, this is crazy, but it was a lot of fun and I had plenty of time”.

Do you collect air miles?
