Switzerland has topped the list of the world’s happiest countries, according to a new survey that was initiated by the United Nations.

Life is as sweet as chocolate in Switzerland, according to a new survey from the Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN). Switzerland came in first place as the happiest in the world, followed closely by Iceland, Denmark, Norway and Canada. The World Happiness Report took a look at 158 countries around the world, and hopes to influence government policies as a result.

World’s Happiest Countries

  1. Switzerland
  2. Iceland
  3. Denmark
  4. Norway
  5. Canada

World’s Least Happy Countries

  1. Togo
  2. Burundi
  3. Syria
  4. Benin
  5. Rwanda

The survey took into consideration a number of variables like GDP per capita, healthy life expectancy, corruption levels and social freedom. Need a little boost? Perhaps flights to Zurich for a dose of Swiss happiness is just the thing you’re looking for!
