Britain, your country needs you. Team GB is still recruiting for the bi-annual Naked Sledding World Championships being held in Germany next month. If you’ve ever wanted to toboggan down a mountain in nothing but your birthday suit to an audience of 25,000+ then now is your chance!
Going for gold
Team GB is looking for patriotic, adventurous athletes willing to strip down and compete in a sledging competition wearing nothing but a pair of knickers at this year’s Naked Sledding World Championships. The British toboggan team is still recruiting members to compete among 30 other sledgers at the competition being held in Germany… surprise, surprise! It seems that Freikörperkultur (Free Body Culture… or just plain nudity) is accepted any time of the year in Germany, even in the middle of winter!
The event will take place in the town of Braunlage, among the picturesque backdrop of the Harz Mountains. Two races are held, one for men and the other for women. Prizes of €1,000 are up for grabs and of course the honour of being the best naked sledger around.
What you need to race down the icy 90m piste: a helmet (safety first!), boots and a pair of underpants.
The competition has previously seen a big turnout of Austrians, Germans and Norwegians but this year the competition is inviting two entries from Great Britain. It’s tough to get in though. A the last event in 2012 the competition received 5,000 entries but only 30 are chosen to compete. Chilisauce.co.uk, a stag and hen party agency, is recruiting Team GB and explain,
“We’re looking for contestants who are up for a laugh. And although the selection policy in the past seems to be slightly skewed toward those who look good naked, don’t let that put you off.”

- Expected audience members: 25,000+ (so probably not the place if you’re a shy one)
- Length of course: 89 metres
- Essential equipment: helmet, boots, a pair knickers and no shame!
- Cost: If selected, Chilisauce will pay for your flights to Hanover and accommodation for the weekend
