It’s well known that American’s are the heavy weight champions when it comes to Halloween, for a long time they’ve thrown the biggest and scariest Halloween parties and have really embraced the Halloween spirit.
Haunted houses are quite possibly the scariest activity you could do this Halloween; they’re not for the weak hearted that’s for sure. You’re usually alone, in a dark and old house, running from zombies and various other scary creatures that are ready to jump out at any corner.
If you’ve booked your flights to the U.S for this Halloween, then you should do some research around the best Halloween activities in your area.

Bates Motel and Haunted Hayride, Glen Mills, Pennsylvania
This haunted house is 25 minutes of pure fear, expect your heart to race as you ride through the dark forests of Arasapha Farm. With jaw dropping sets, these scenes are an amazing example of Hollywood-style props and sets. You won’t need much of an imagination to think this is real. With 25 scenes and 75 actors you should expect to be scared and thrilled for the full 25 minute duration.
Combo tickets are $40 for adults, $35 for kids and include admission to the hayride, the Bates Motel and the haunted trail. Individual tickets are also available via their website.
The 13th Gate, Baton Rouge, Louisiana
Are you brave enough to make it through all 13 gates?
The 13th gate is well regarded for its ultra-realism, it’s often said that the guests are not sure if the scenes they are experiencing are real or fake.
The attraction includes: a real snake-infested Louisiana Swamp, nightly voodoo shows, claustrophobic cellars, hidden subterranean passages and even a prehistoric ice cave.
The house is constantly changing and evolving, adding modern day fears and anxieties to the attraction. Visitors could quite happily visit on an annually basis and never get bored.
Netherworld Haunted House is a walk-through dark attraction filled with terrifying live actors, spine chilling special effects and a journey you will never forget.
Their best attraction the Rotting tells the story of witches and evil spirts that drain the life out of humans, causing them to decay and be overcome by hunger for human flesh. This is not recommended for young children – which means you know it is going to be good.
It’s a self-guided tour with 125 actors hidden in every corner. Because you make your way around the attraction at your own pace and with your own group, it makes it 10 times more scary because you really feel as though you’re alone.
