After years of plans, delays and expectations the night tube will open this evening with the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, set to ride the first service.

It’s been two years in the making but the day is finally here: tonight Londoners will be able to ride the night tube for the first time.

Two lines will initially be in service – the Victoria line and parts of the Central line – with others to follow in the future. An all night tube will run on Friday and Saturday nights.

Perfect not only for late night revellers, the night tube will also offer a great transport option for those who work nights – such as nurses, porters and security guards, according to London’s mayor, Sadiq Khan.

Other cities which already run an all night service include Barcelona, Berlin and New York.

So if you’re planning a trip to London, getting home at night could be about to become a lot easier and a lot more affordable!
